Meet The Team

At KD Marine we have a highly experienced team of staff across our office and workshop who are supported by a team of contractors across a range of disciplines.

  • Hamish Petersen – Managing Director

As Owner and Managing Director of KD Marine, Hamish oversees the day to day running of the business and is ultimately responsible for delivery on behalf of KD Marine’s client base. Having gained a wealth of industry experience throughout his career, Hamish has been active in the subsea oil and gas industry across the globe and is regarded as one of the most highly competent figureheads in the UK diving sector.

Hamish trained as a commercial air diver at Pro Dive in Cornwall in 1975 and after years diving with CG Dorris and KD Marine (pre-acquisition) he moved into the office where he worked as Equipment, Project and latterly Regional Manager at BUE Services. In 1989 Hamish re-established KD Marine as a Diving Contractor and has built the company into the successful and respected business it is today.

Hamish is the current Chairman of the employers signatories ODIA (Offshore Diving Industry Agreement), he is also on the committee of IMCA (International Marine Contractors Association) and the SUT (Society of Underwater Technology).


  • Sandy Peterson – Operations Manager

Sandy is responsible for the day to day running of KD Marine’s operations covering on/offshore projects. With over 30 years’ experience Sandy brings a considerable amount of knowledge and capability to the KD Marine Management Team.

Sandy began his career in 1980 with Wharton & Williams commonly known as 2W’s as a Tender. He then joined Coflexip Stena Offshore in the nineties as a Rigging Supervisor primarily focusing on deepwater pipelay operations in Brazil, Gulf of Mexico & West Africa. In 2005 he joined KD Marine as a Construction Superintendent, before progressing to the position of Operations Manager in 2008. Since then Sandy has been key to the growth and continued success KD Marine experiences year on year.


  • Philip Milne -Business Development Manager

Philip qualified as a diver in 1982 and has remained in the diving industry throughout his career moving into engineering and project management. Philip worked in Nigeria for Chevron as a diving Technical Authority before joining KD Marine as commercial manager from 2009 to 2012 when, he moved to Addax Petroleum in Nigeria to work as a Project Manager on offshore installation  and IRM projects. Philip has re-joined KD Marine in April 2019 and now leads the business development team, based in the Aberdeen office but, will work internationally. 

Philip works closely with MD Hamish Petersen and Marketing Consultant Amy Grant-Simpson forming a dynamic team focused on supporting existing clients in surface diving, marine construction, decommissioning and FPSO mooring installations and, following growth opportunities at home and abroad.

  • Amy Grant-Simpson - Marketing Consultant

Amy’s background is in subsea having worked for installation contractors like Ocean Installer, Technip, McDermott and Saipem.
